Easy Peasy Picots Halter Top Free Crochet Pattern

Hello Everyone!

I’m bringing you the second pattern this week to make up for missing a pattern 2 weeks ago. (Yes I know I said I’d release it last week but I’m a horrible procrastinator so you’re getting it now!) This top is made with beginners totally in mind. You use 3 basic stitches and some basic sewing techniques to put this together. It’s also made in plus sizes with instructions on how to size it to you specifically as well!

This is the first top I made with one of my new cotton summer yarns from iceyarns I’ll be linking to it in the supplies section.

This post will contain affiliate links, this means if you make a purchase through some of my links I will receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. I only endorse products I personally use and would purchase again.

Let’s get hooking!

Cups

Ch 13

Row 1- Work 1 sc in the second ch from hook and in each ch until you have 1 left. Work 3 sc in the last ch stitch. Place a stitch marker in the second stitch of your 3 sc cluster. Work 1 sc in the back loops of your beginning chain stitches. (27)

Rows2-(13 extra small)(16 small)(19 medium)(22 large)(25 extra large)(28 2X)(31 3X)- Ch 1, turn your work, work 1 sc in each stitch until you reach your stitch marker. Remove stitch marker, work 3 sc into the same stitch your marker was in. Put marker back into second stitch of increase. Work 1 sc into each remaining stitch.

Tie off with a long tail, you will use this tail to sew your cup to your stomach band.

Make your second cup.

Stomach Band

Ch 27, or chain until your stomach band is as wide as you would like to be. You can see where 27 put it on me.

Row 1- Sc in the second ch from hook and in each ch across.

Row 2- Ch 3, skip the first stitch DC into your second stitch. *Ch 1, skip the next stitch, DC into the next stitch* Repeat * across. (This makes the holes for you to weave your chain through at the end for the corset lace in the back.)

Rows 3-150- (that was how many rows I worked for me I also worked very tight. You will want to repeat this row until it’s as long as you would like it to be to fit comfortably.) Ch 1, work 1 HDC in each stitch across.

Row 151- Repeat row 2

Row 152- Ch 1, work 1 sc in each stitch across.

Sew on the cups

Fold your stomach band in half and place a stitch marker at the fold. This is where you will begin sewing your cups on.

I used the whip stitch to sew my cups on use whatever works for you.

Border

Connect to top edge of your stomach band. We will be working picot stitches along the edging. I will link to a youtube video on how to do this and will also include a description below.

If you don’t have enough stitches to work a final repeat at the end that’s totally fine and since it’s on the back won’t even be noticed!

Ch 1 and work 1 sc into the sides of the next 3 rows.

*This is how we do a picot- Ch 3, work 1 sc into the first ch. You just did a picot!

Work 1 sc into the next 3 stitches.*

Repeat across. Once you get to the cups just continue but now you’re working into each stitch of the cup.

At the other side of the stomach band tie off. Tie onto the bottom corner of your stomach band and repeat.

Tie off.

Straps

Tie on next to your stitch marker and ch 2. Work 1 DC into the same stitch you tied onto, work 1 DC into the stitch your stitch marker was in, and work 1 DC in the next stitch.

Ch 2, work 1 DC in each DC stitch until it is long enough to tie around your neck. For me that’s about 30 rows!

Tie off and weave in your ends.

Make a chain of 250 or however long you need to lace up the back for me that was about 250. Lace up your back and your ready to wear your new top!

Before we go…

As always I hope you liked today’s pattern it was super simple and fun to work up I mean who doesn’t like a nice relaxing pattern from time to time. The picots really made it pop at the end I was super happy with how those turned out. Of course if you don’t want to do picots you can always not add a border or do just a simple sc border.

If you liked today’s pattern you can see some of my other beginner friendly tops like my lilac beach bralette, or my easy peasy summer crop top.
