Color Block Crochet Sweater Pattern

Hello Everyone!

It’s Friday once again and these sweaters are just flying by. This one especially was super quick, fun, easy, and since it’s worked in small parts its easy to bring everywhere. This sweater is made by crocheting multiple blocks then sewing them together at the end.

This sweater uses beginner friendly stitches and breaks down the process of making a sweater which I know intimidates a lot of people into multiple small, manageable areas. Once you sew all the pieces together then you add in your neckline, sleeves, and bottom hem area.

Since this sweater uses a weight 4 yarn and a 6mm crochet hook it also works up nice and fast as well. It’s also super warm and cozy making it perfect for chilly fall weather, maybe winter too if you don’t live in Minnesota.

If you would like a PDF copy of this sweater you can sign up for my patreon the top tier will always get you the pattern and if you sign up during November 2021 you can get the PDF on my second to top tier as well.

Sewing Together Your Squares

Front side

Sew your 2 front top panels together with the shortest side facing each other.

Sew your bottom 2 panels together.

Lay your bottom 2 panels under your top 2 panels so that the opposite colors line up. Sew your bottom 2 panels to your top 2 panels.

Back side

Sew your 2 front top panels together with the shortest side facing each other.

Sew your bottom 2 panels together.

Lay your bottom 2 panels under your top 2 panels so that the opposite colors line up. Sew your bottom 2 panels to your top 2 panels.

Sewing front nd back side together.

Lay your front and back panels ontop of each other so that your colors line up. In my case gray should be on gray and pink should be on pink. Sew up the bottom panels together using the corresponding color of yarn. So I used gray yarn to sew my gray panels shut and pink yarn to sew my pink panels shut. Make sure your only sewing the bottom squares together.

Connect the color of yarn for your top panel and sew up 5 stitches of your top panel. Weave in ends to secure your seam.

You’re done you can wear your new sweater now!

Before we go…

As always I hope you all enjoyed today’s pattern. This sweater was a lot of fun for me to make especially since it broke it down into bite sized pieces which is always nice. Plus weirdly enough I love the asymmetrical sleeves of this sweater and it’s so cozy and comfy. I love the half double crochet it makes tight enough stitches to be warm and plush enough stitches to be cozy.

If you liked today’s pattern and would like to make some more cold weather wearables for yourself you can see my Beginners Bulky Crochet Sweater or my Easy Peasy Cardigan. Both of those sweaters are beginner friendly and work up nice and quickly making them a great project option to expand your cold weather wardrobe.

  1. Hi Kim! I’m sorry if I’m missing it, but can you please tell me the bust size for your 5X sweaters? Thank you so much!

    1. Hello there are no bust measurements for any of the sizes since these are baggy sweaters I based the whole size off of bust measurement.
