River Stones Shawl Free Crochet Pattern

Hello Everyone!

It’s Friday once again and I just got back home from the Minnesota renaissance festival where I wore a burgundy colored costume. With that of course I had to make myself something to match thus the skipping stones shawl was born.

This pattern works up super quickly I made 2 in under a week the burgundy one pictured above used a weight 3 yarn and the shawlette pictured below used a weight 1 yarn. The stitch pattern was also a really fun 6 row repeat that’s basic enoug for ambitious beginners but interesting enough to keep even experienced fiber artists reaching for it.

This pattern will be available as a PDF on my Patreon by the end of the month for my top 2 tiers.

Let’s get hooking!

Supplies

if you want to make a shawlette about 120 grams of yarn (this is what I used for the lace weight shawlette) if you want to make the full shawl I used about 250 grams of a weight 3 yarn. This shawl can be made in any weight or tension since the repeat can just be worked until it is your desired size the amount listed is what I used for the 2 shawls I made.

For the lace weight shawlette I used a 3.25mm crochet hook, and the weight 3 shawl I used a 5mm crochet hook for. If youre using a different weight of yarn I suggest going up .5-1mm from the suggested hook size on your yarn label this will give you better drape.

Oce you reach the end of the row ch 1 and do not turn. You will work 2 HDC in the side of each row across the top This step is optional it gives the top a clean edge.

Tie off, weave in ends.

That’s it you can now wear your shawl!

Before we go…

As always I hope you all enjoyed today’s pattern like I said earlier it worked up insanely fast for me even with the small yarns I used and the drape was out of this world.

I really enjoyed working on this and Jillian eve on YouTube who does a heavy focus on yarn spinning videos is doing a capetember thing where it’s focused on fiber arts items that drape off the shoulders such as shawls and ponchos. Because of this I will be focusing shawls, ponchos, capelets, and hoods for the month of September so if you enjoyed today’s pattern make sure you check back throughout the month to get more like this!

Remember this pattern will be available by the end of the month on my Patreon as a PDF pattern.

If you enjoyed today’s pattern you can follow my page on Facebook to see new projects when they come out, get occasional blog and life news, and upcoming possibly some information on different fiber arts. If you make project using a pattern from my website you can join my Facebook group and show it off. I would absolutely love to see what you all make with my projects.

That’s all I got for you today. Once again I hope you all enjoyed my patterns and as always happy hooking everyone!
