Ladder Pattern Hat Free Crochet Pattern

Hello Everyone!

Today is day 9 of the 10 days of giving pattern blowout! I can’t believe how close it is to the end already, I had so much fun designing the patterns and putting this all together this year. Today I have another crochet hat that fits a fur pompom perfectly (recently got some in the mail and I’ve been LOVING them). I also got those cute little labels you can see on my hat there and I’m just loving those as well.

This pattern is a great mindless crochet pattern since it has no increase or decrease rows, and it just cinches shut at the top. This makes it a great addition to the 10 days of giving pattern blowout. It has a simple 2 row repeat, then a single crochet border.

With this being the 10 days of giving pattern blowout I like to urge everyone to use their crafts for giving. This can be a very hard time of year for many families and individuals out there and our craft can be a huge a help to those people. With the way our world has been this year I suggest looking for places locally to give your items to, help boost the morale of our communities.

Let’s get hooking!

Supplies

3 50 gram balls of weight 4 yarn. I used a yarn from ice yarns that has been discontinued, but red heart with love metallic makes a great substitute.

5.5mm crochet hook. I used the Furls streamline swirls in the color Virgo which you can find here on Amazon.

Darning needle

Scissors. I like the clover yarn cutter which I got from Amazon.

Fur pompom. I got mine as a bulk set on Amazon.

These are not required but I love the little leather labels I got from Amazon.

Abbreviations

Ch- Chain

Sc- Single crochet

DC- Double crochet

FPDC- Front post double crochet

BPDC- Back post double crochet

Slst- Slip stitch

Notes

Gauge- 7 stitches= 2 inches 5 rows= 2 inches

The side that shows the textured design from the front and back post double crochets is the right side.

I attached my pompom with a little button I put on the inside of the hat where it cinches. My pompoms had an elastic loop, so if you order them i I suggest looking for that style of fur pompom.

Before we go…

As always I hope you all enjoyed today’s pattern, I really liked working a new type of design. This hat works up differently than a lot of the other ones on my site, and except for the alpine stitch I’ve never really utilized front and back post double crochets until this one, it was a lot of fun. If you would like to see the other hat on my site that doesn’t use increase or decrease rows you can find my alpine columns hat here. This hat also has a matching ladder pattern cowl.
