Alpine Columns Hat Free Crochet Pattern

Hello Everyone!

It’s day 8 of the 10 days of giving and today I’m bringing you an alpine hat in a style that’s new to my blog! This hat is made in a long tube so no increases or decreases, it’s cinched shut at the end and then a pompom is put on top. I recently got some fur pompoms and this style of hat is wonderful with fur pompoms.

Remember this is the 10 days of giving collection and with that I always urge my fellow crocheters to use their crafts to help those who need it. Usually I would suggest websites that you can visit to send items places, but this year I’ve been doing it a little bit different. This year I’ve been urging everyone to look locally for places to help. With the way the world’s been this year I feel like coming together to raise the spirits of our local community this holiday season should be something we really try to do, Many local places accept donations for warmth, places like schools, hospitals, women’s shelters, homeless shelters, churches. You can also ask around your community to find more places that may be asking for help.

Let’s get hooking everyone!

Supplies

1 ball of a weight 4 yarn. (any ball over 100 grams will be large enough, the hat in the photo used about half of a caron cake.)

5.5mm crochet hook

Scissors

Darning needle

Fur pompom

Abbreviations

Ch- Chain

Sc- Single crochet

DC- Double crochet

FPDC- Front post double crochet

Slst- Slip stitch

Notes

Gauge- 7 stitches=2 inches every. 7 rows (DC, sc alternating)= 2 inches.

The side that shows the alpine stitch is the right side.

For the pompom I placed a button on the inside of the hat, just off of where the hole is. That way it can be removed for watching.

For cinching the top shut i double up my yarn so I could make the cinch tighter.
