Hello Everyone!
It’s Friday once again and I’ve recently been playing around with hoods (next weeks pattern is going to have a hood as well so I hope you all enjoy). This is a super quick to make project that you can make again and again to wear any time it’s chilly. It would work great under a jacket, sweater, or even over a top like I am wearing it in the photos.

Supplies
5mm crochet hook
2 100 gram balls of a weight 4 yarn. I used favorite from iceyarns.
Scissors
Darning needle
Abbreviations
Ch- Chain
Sc- Single crochet
DC- Double crochet
FPDC- Front post double crochet
BPDC- Back post double crochet
HDC- Half double crochet
HDC puff- Half double crochet puff. (This is accomplished by yarning over and inserting hook like you would for a half double crochet stitch, when you have 3 loops on your hook yarn over and insert your hook back into the same stitch. Draw up another loop so you have 5 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through all loops.)
Slst- Slip stitch.
Notes
You can make this smaller or larger by increasing or decreasing the stitch count on multiples of 2. For each 2 you add or subtract make sure you account for that in the hood. (If you add 2 stitches make sure you count in 1 extra stitch on each side when adding the hood if you subtract 2 stitches count in one less stitch on either side.)
If you want the cowl portion longer or shorter just add more or less rows of the sc DC repeat rows.
Hooded Cowl Pattern

Row 1- With color 1 work 69 foundation DC, Join to beginning. (You should end with 70 stitches.
Row 2- Ch 2, turn, alternate FPDC and BPDC around. Join to beginning with slst.
Tie off. Join color 2
Row 3- Ch 1, turn, *HDC into the next stitch, HDC puff into the next stitch* Repeat * around. Join to beginning with slst.
Rows 4-6- Ch 1, turn, *Sc in the next stitch, DC in the next* Repeat * around. Join to beginning with slst.
Rows 7-27- Repeat rows 3-6. You will end with a HDC puff row.
Tie off.
Count in 25 stitches from the seam on either side. Place a stitch marker where you counted to.
Tie onto the marker that will have the wrong side facing you.
Row 1- Ch 1, sc into the same stitch you tied onto *DC in the next stitch, sc in the next stitch.* Repeat * across to other stitch marker.
Rows 2-3- ch 1, turn, *sc in the first stitch, DC in the next stitch* Repeat * across.
Row 4- Ch 1, turn, *HDC in the next stitch, HDC puff stitch in the next* Repeat * across. Rows 5-27- Repeat rows 1-4
Row 28- Ch 1, turn, work 1 HDC stitch in the first 20 stitches, work 5 HDC decreases. Work 1 HDC in the last 20 stitches.
Fold in half facing away from the opening.
Work 1 slst through both halves of your hood. Do this to the end closing it up.
Tie off. Weave in ends.
