Crumple Ear Warmer Free Crochet Pattern

My little doggie Gizmo needed to come into these pictures with me.

Hello Everyone!

It’s still Spring so I still have a bit of an obsession with ear warmers, especially the ones with a twist! These work up so quickly and are a blast to make so I’ve been making SO many, which is why you guys keep seeing all these crochet ear warmer patterns.

This is a great project to use over your leftover yarns from previous projects and can be made in an evening. It can also easily be sized down since you just need to end with an odd number..

Let’s get hooking!

Supplies

About 30 grams of a weight 4 yarn. I use the alpaca cakes from ice yarns.

Scissors, I like the clover yarn cutter.

Darning needle.

HDC- Half double crochet

DC- Double crochet

Sc- Single crochet

Slst- Slip stitch.

This can be sized up or down by using an odd number of stitches as your starting row.

Crochet Ear Warmer Pattern

Row 1- Work 71 foundation HDC. (If you don’t know how to work this stitch is worked you can see a video tutorial here.)

Row 2-11 Ch 1, *work 1 sc in the next stitch, DC in the next stitch.* Repeat * across. (You will be working single crochets into single crochet stitches, and double crochet into double crochet stitches.)

Row 12- Ch 1, HDC in each stitch across.

Row 13- Ch 1, sc in each stitch across.

Border

Ch 1 at the end of row 13, and move your piece so you’re working into the side of each row. Work 1 sc into the side of each row going down.

Once you reach the bottom of that side ch 1 and work 1 sc into the bottom of each stitch of your first row.

At the end of that row ch 1 and work 1 sc into the side of each row going up. Slst into the first stitch of that row.

Tie off.

Sew in twist (If you’re unsure how to do this you can see a video for it here)

Weave in ends.

Before we go…

I hope you all enjoyed today’s pattern, I loved making it, it was super fun and worked up super quickly. I used some of the left over yarn from my seedy beanie crochet pattern, and yes i meant some, this didn’t even use up all the left over ball!

If you liked today’s pattern you can see some of my other twist ear warmers like the half double puff ear warmer, or the twisted crunch ear warmer.
