Half Double Puff Ear Warmer With a Twist Free Crochet Pattern

Hello Everyone!

It’s Friday again and I’m bringing you a nice new twist headband! If you can’t tell I’ve been a little obsessed with these lately. This one though uses a stitch that I recently did a YouTube tutorial for, it’s actually my first YouTube video and I am super excited about it.

The stitch used in this ear warmer is beginner friendly and it makes a lovely texture. This ear warmer can be made using solid colored or self striping yarns to give a lovely unique effect every time. Plus with spring just around the corner who doesnt want to make some new ear warmers!

Let’s get hooking!

Supplies

6mm crochet hook

30 grams of a weight 5 bulky yarn. I used Peruvian from Ice Yarns which is an alpaca blend that is a lighter weight 5 yarn

Scissors, I like the clover yarn cutter

Darning needle

Abbreviations

Ch- Chain

HDC- Half double crochet

Special Stitch

HDCPS- Half double crochet puff stitch. You can see a video tutorial on how to do this stitch here.

Yarn over, draw up a loop. Yarn over and draw up another loop. You should have 5 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through all 5 loops on your hook.

Notes

6 stitches= 2 inches 5 rows= 2 inches

Either side can be the front side, one side will be a bit busier than the other, it depends on the look you prefer. When your sewing in your twist you want the side you want to show on the inside.

When you tie off tie off using a large string.

Before we go…

As always I hope you all enjoyed today’s crochet pattern it was super fun for me to make (I’ve made like 5 more already) It works up in about a half-hour making it a great project to work on in an evening, or when you can find little time to crochet.

With spring coming up and how quickly this works up its the perfect time to make some of these for your spring wardrobe. It also makes a great addition to any craft fair booths, or Esty shops!

If you liked today’s pattern I have several other twist ear warmers as well that work up quickly and are excellent for spring. My twisted crunch stitch ear warmer uses a weight 5 yarn as well and works up extremely quickly. My Magic Puffs ear warmer uses a weight 4 yarn for people who may not have bulky yarns in their stash, and it looks great with solid colored or self-striping yarns!
