Hello everyone, today we’re going to be crocheting some clothes for our summer wardrobes! This top was worked up and inspired by my friend who recently went on vacation in Florida for her cruise, and spending time on the beach! Now, most people hear Florida and the first thing they think is hot, which is why I made crochet clothing to be as breathable as possible. I added in a bunch of lace, used a cotton-based yarn and a few other things I’ll talk about below for breathability.
The top we will be making today is worked with 2 solid cups, a lace neckline, along with a lacey stomach. The back is also corseted so you can make it as open or closed as you want to customize your level of cool a bit and to make it a bit more modest if that’s the kind of style you have! This top is worked with a cotton acrylic blend of yarn, cotton makes it more breathable and I personally feel that the acrylic in there makes it more wearable and gives it some more stitch retention.

Well instead of eating up more of your time how about we go get started!

Row 7- Ch 2, Work 3 DC in beg ch space. *Skip DC work 3 DC in next ch space* repeat * until center. Once you reach the center work 1 DC in the stitch next to your ch space (you will have 2 DC in a row here) Ch 1, skip center space, work 2 DC on opposite side repeat * until the end.

Row 13- Ch 1, work 1 sc in each stitch across, including ch 1 space.
Tie off.
Cut 6 long strands of yarn (20-30 inches a piece)
Take 3 strands and loop them all in the end stitch on the top of the neckline. (You will be doing this on either side, we’re making a way for it to tie around your neck.)
Double them over in half, so that your holding 6 strands oy yarn.
Separate them into groups of 2 so you have 3 groups of 2 strands of yarn.
Begin braiding until it reaches a length that will comfortably reach half way around your neck and be comfortably tied.
Again do this on both sides, and when you wear it you will tie it on behind your neck!
Rib Band
Will be worked on both sides of the cup.
Once you’re done adding in your top lacework now its time to make it wearable!
Connect your yarn into the side corner of one of your cups. You should connect it planning on working along the sides of each row in forming your cup, not in actual crochet stitches, we are adding a sc border here!
Row 1- Once you have your yarn attached in the correct place Ch 1, work 1 sc in the side of each sc row formed when making your cup.
Row 2- 18- Ch 2, work 1 DC in each stitch across
Stomach
Connect your yarn to the bottom corner of one of the rid bands you just formed. You want it to be connected so you will be working down over your stomach, and again we will be working this first row in the sides of the previous row like a sc border!
Row 1- Once you have your yarn connected to the right place ch 1, work 1 sc in the same space you joined in, and 1 more sc in the side of the same DC stitch. Work 2 sc in the side of every DC row until you reach the sc part of the cup. Work 1 sc in each sc until you have 1 stitch before your center stitch marker (for those of you who have removed your stitch markers by now you should have 2 stitches left on the first half of the cup). Ch 1, skip 2 stitches (4 in total for those who have removed their stitch marker) Work 1 sc in each stitch across until side of DC row. Work 2 sc in the side of every remaining DC row.
Row 2- Ch 6, skip first 4 stitches, DC into the fifth stitch. *Ch 4, skip next 4 stitches, DC into the fifth stitch.* Repeat to center Ch 1, skip center space, and repeat * until end.
Row 3- Ch 2, *work 4 DC in each ch space, ch 1, skip DC* Repeat to center, work 1 DC in the stitch next to ch space, ch 1, skip ch space, and repeat * across
Row 4- Ch 2, *work 1 DC in each DC stitch, ch 1, skip ch space* Repeat across
Row 5- Ch 6, skip first 4 stitches, work 1 DC into ch 1 space. *Ch 4, skip 4 DC work 1 DC in ch space.* Repeat to center ch 1, skip center space, and repeat * across (Final stitch will be worked in beg ch 2 of the previous row)
Row 6- Ch 2, *work 4 DC in ch space, ch 1, skip DC* Repeat across making sure to skip center stitch still.
Row 7- Ch 2, *work 1 DC in next 4 stitches, ch 1, skip ch space* repeat * across.
Rows 8-10- Repeat rows 5-7
Tie off
Border and Finishing Up
Repeat on both sides.
Tie onto the bottom corner of one side of your work. Complete bottom it will be the edge of your stomach, and again we will be working in the sides of the rows we just worked.
(These rows may be broken down into a few paragraphs per row so I can accurately describe what I’m doing!)
Row 1- Once you get your yarn tied on in the correct place we’re going to ch 1, and work 1 sc in the same stitch we tied onto. Work 1 more sc in the side of the same DC. Work 2 sc in the side of each DC row of the stomach area.
Once you reach the DC stitches of your rib band just work 1 sc in each stitch across.
Once you reach the top of rib band however ch 2, move to the top side of the rib band now, and work 2 sc in the side of each DC row across.
Once you reach the first row of where the neckline begins work 1 sc into the side of the first sc row, work 2 sc into the side of each DC row until you reach the top. Connect to the closest stitch to your hook of the final row of neckline with a slst.
Tie off
Connect your yarn to the top corner of your rib band, you will want to be working down the sc border you just made in this area to create holes to lace through in the back.
Row 2- Once you have your yarn connected ch 2, work 1 DC in the first stitch. *Ch 2, skip 2 stitches, work 1 DC in next 2 stitches* repeat * to bottom.
Repeat all of this on the opposite side, and use a braid, ribbon, cord, or yarn of your choice to lace it up the back and try it on!
Conclusion
This makes a nice pattern for going to the beach or wearing around when it’s really warm out. The high crochet neckline allows for it to be cute worn underthings as well. I frequently wear this style top underneath a zip-up hoodie in the fall, it allows for it to be breezy and light, and the neckline really makes an outfit that pops!
