Picot Scrunchie Free Crochet Pattern

Hello Everyone!

It’s day 7 of our 12 days of Christmas crochet pattern blowout! I hope you all had a merry Christmas yesterday and for those who don’t celebrate I wish you happy holidays and hope you had a wonderful Sunday! Today we are bringing a super quick 15-20 minute project perfect for those new years markets. For this scrunchie you only need to know double crochets and single crochets! along with chain and slip stitch but this is a great project for beginners who want something quick and easy to make!

Supplies

5.5mm hook or 3.5mm hook. (you can also use different hooks and yarn than suggested.)

about 10 grams of a weight 4 yarn or about 10 grams of a weight 2 yarn. I used fantasy from Hobbii or denim from ice yarns.

Scissors

Darning needle

Hair tie

Abbreviations

Ch- Chain

Sc- Single crochet

DC- Double crochet

Slst- Slip stitch

Scrunchie Pattern

Remember this pattern will be available on my Patreon by the end of the month.

Row 1- Tie onto your hair tie and work 34 (medium weight yarn) or 46 (sports weight yarn) DC around your hair tie. Join to beginning with slst. (if using a different weight of yarn work DC until your hair tie is completely covered in double crochet stitches)

Row 2- Ch 2, turn, work 2 DC in each stitch around. Join to beginning with slst.

Row 3- Ch 1, turn, work 2 sc in the first stitch. *ch 2, sc in the first ch. Sc into the next stitch. 2 sc in the next stitch* Repeat * around. Join to beginning with slst.

Tie off. Weave in ends.

You can make this with any weight yarn to make the scrunchie larger or smaller. You can also add more rows of increases if you would like it larger and rufflier.
