Introduction
Hello everyone! For today’s pattern, we have a crochet halter top in a pastel purple. This top was a quick and easy make, and the entire front body is done in one piece. It has a mostly open back to allow for breathability, but I will also include tips at the end for making the back a little more closed for those of you who like more being covered. This crochet halter top can be worn to the beach as a beach cover-up, a halter top for just wearing around, or my personal favorite is wearing it under a hoodie or button up top.
When making this top I used a 50% cotton 50% acrylic yarn that I will link to in the supplies section. A nice cotton blend allows for a nice breathable, crochet halter top that still has stitch retention. Many of my other summer patterns will also be using cotton blend yarns. For this pattern, you will need to know how to work increases in crochet. This is done by simply working 2 stitches into the same stitch.
One more thing before we get this pattern started with summer coming to an end I will be finishing posting the last of my crochet halter tops, and other summer clothing. Check back on Friday’s, I will be publishing several of them in a week or 2 so I can begin bringing you autumn and winter patterns!
Now let’s get started with this crochet halter top!

Border and Ties
Connect to the top corner of your piece.

Row 2- Ch 1, work 1 hdc in each sc you just created.
Row 3- Ch 1, work 1 hdc in each stitch.
Row 4- Ch 1, work 1 hdc in first 15 stitches (you should be at the bottom corner starting this row.)
Row 5- Ch 1, work 1 hdc in the 15 stitches you just worked.
Row 6-8- Ch 1, work 1 hdc in each stitch across. Tie off.
For rows 6-8 repeat those until it reaches halfway across the back, at the end, you will be seaming the 2 sides together.
Repeat on the other side.
Collar
Ch 10
Row 1- Work 1 hdc in each stitch across.
Row 2-38- Ch 1, hdc in each stitch across.
Tie off (continue working on this until it almost wraps all the way around the neck, but not quite we will be adding braids to tie it at the end.)
Tie onto the top corner of the collar, and work 1 sc in the side of each row, repeat on the other side of the collar as well.
Assembly
Connect your collar to the original 20 stitches you made to start the body. Make sure you have an even amount of stitches on either side. Take 3 string about 10 inches long (you will do this in each corner of the collar) Weave them through the final stitch on the corner your working on, double them over, and make a braid.
Underneath your breast take 3 strings about 2.5-3 feet long. Weave them through, and braid them like you just did for the collar.
If you would like it a little more modest for the area you worked 15 stitches into you can work 25 instead, making it a half back. Where you are connecting to braid you can tie on and work about 3 stitches, work hdc rows until it is long enough to tie in the back.
