Introduction

Today we will be working on a small dog crochet sweater for your fur babies! If you’ve been here before then you know I live in Northern Minnesota with my fiancee and little puppy Gizmo. Our winters here get very cold, and our animals still need to be able to go potty and enjoy some fresh air. This sweater is made with Redheart stripes yarn making a beautiful gradient. The yarn is also a sturdy 100% acrylic this sweater should keep your animal warm for a long time to come.

This pattern is a great start for beginners since it uses basic crochet stitches. You will need to know how to work decreases but I’ll include a link in the video in case you’re not sure how!

Finishing up

Tie onto the bottom corner of the body in the side of the rows not in the actual rows. Work 1 sc into the side of each row.

Tie off and repeat on the other side.

With your darning needle whip stitch the 2 sides together using the sc stitches you just made for a nice join.

Weave in all of your ends and try it on your fur baby!

For those with larger or smaller dogs, this pattern can be modified by making the collar large enough to fit around your dog’s neck. From there repeat the increase and decrease rows until it’s long and wide enough to fit comfortably around your pet!

Conclusion

I hope you all enjoyed this small dog crochet sweater pattern today, and you make these in all kinds of colors to keep your fur baby warm this winter! This can also be made with other weight 4 yarns though I honestly suggest super saver brands for this. It holds up well to the wear and it is easy to clean. (This comes in handy when they decide to roll in the dirt, personal experience.) The yarn also doesn’t get all fuzzy with wear as some other yarns do, and it comes in plenty of colors! Below I’ll link into some more crochet dog sweater patterns so you can fill your puppies wardrobe for the whole winter!
