Crunch Time Work Mittens Free Crochet Pattern

Hello Everyone and Happy Holidays!

It’s Christmas! The final day of my 12 days of Christmas pattern blowout. Today I’m posting my Fiancés Christmas present so he wouldn’t have been able to see this before then! These have a flip top so you can have your fingers open or covered depending on what you’re doing. Logan has been asking for these for so long since the steering wheel is cold when he goes to work. These are also pretty easy to make making it perfect for people who are looking for some simple practical projects to work on this winter.

Supplies

5mm crochet hook

1 100 gram ball of weight 4 yarn. I used soft and sleek from Hobby lobby which is a non pilling acrylic perfect for gloves that will have heavy use.

Scissors.

Darning needle.

Abbreviations

Ch- Chain

HDC- Half double crochet

Slst- Slip stitch

DC- Double crochet

FPDC- Front post double crochet

BPDC- Back post double crochet

Crochet Mittens Pattern

Remember this pattern will be available as a PDF on my patreon by the end of the month.

Row 1- Make a magic ring and work 8 HDC into it. Cinch chut and join to beginning with slst.

Row 2- Ch 1, turn, work 2 HDC in each stitch around. Join to beginning with slst. (16)

Row 3- Ch 1, turn, *work 1 HDC in the next stitch, 2 HDC in the next stitch* Repeat * around. Join to beginning with slst. (24)

Row 4- Ch 1, turn, *HDC in the next stitch, slst in the next stitch* Repeat * around. Join to beginning with slst.

Row 5- Ch 1, turn, HDC in each stitch around. Join to beginning with slst.

Rows 6-17- Repeat rows 4-5.

Tie off. Weave in ends

Bottom hand portion

Row 1- Work 23 foundation HDC. Join to beginning (24 total)

Rows 2-3- Ch 1, turn, HDC in each stitch around. Join to beginning with slst.

Row 4- Ch 1, turn, HDC in the first 6 stitches, grab the top portion of your glove and count 6 stitches in from where you tied off. Line it up with the row your currently working. Working through the seventh stitch of both your bottom and top hand portion work 1 HDC. Work 1 HDC through both parts for the next 11 stitches. Work 1 HDC in each remaining stitch of the bottom hand portion. Join to beginning with slst.

Row 5- Ch 1, turn, work 1 HDC in each stitch around. Join to beginning with slst.

Row 6- Ch 1, turn, *HDC in the next stitch, slst in the next stitch* Repeat * around. Join to beginning with slst.

Row 7- Ch 1, turn, work 1 HDC in each stitch around until you have 6 stitches left. Ch 7, skip 5 stitches, and work 1 HDC into the last stitch. Join to beginning with slst.

For the other thumb you will ch 1, turn, work 1 HDC in the first stitch, ch 7 skip 5 stitches, HDC into the sixth stitch. Work 1 HDC in each remaining stitch. Join to beginning with slst.

Row 8- Ch 1, turn, *HDC in the next stitch, slst in the next stitch* Repeat * around. Join to beginning with slst.

Row 9- Ch 1, turn, HDC in each stitch around. Join to beginning with slst.

Row 10- Ch 1, turn, *HDC in the next stitch, slst in the next stitch* Repeat * around. Join to beginning with slst.

Row 11- Ch 2, turn, work 1 DC in each stitch around. Join to beginning with slst.

Row 12-15- Ch 2, turn, alternate FPDC and BPDC. Join to beginning with slst.

Tie off, weave in ends.

Thumb

Tie on in one of the edges.

Row 1- Ch 1, work 1 HDC in the top of every other ch stitch. Work 1 HDC in the corner on the other side. Work 1 HDC in each HDC stitch. Join to beginning with slst. You should have 10 stitches.

Rows 2-8- Ch 1, turn, HDC in each stitch around. Join to beginning with slst,

Row 9- Ch 1, turn, HDC decrease all the way around. Join to beginning with slst.

Tie off, cinch top of thumb shut and weave in ends.
