Cozy Campfire Hat Free Crochet Pattern For Beginners

Crochet hat draped over a wooden railing. The crochet hat is red and gray and has a pompom on it made of different shades of gray.

Hello Everyone!

Today is day 2 of our 10 days of giving pattern blowout and I’m really excited about this pattern. I used the fleece lite from Hobby Lobby and it was such a soft yarn to work with it felt like clouds! The finished project was just as soft!

I know so many people don’t like working with the boucle yarn but this pattern works in between stitches instead of into the top of them making even this difficult yarn beginner friendly. Bonus, this hat only takes about an hour to make as well!

The speed of which this hat works up and that it only uses one ball of yarn makes this a perfect project for our theme this month which is giving. This is the 10 days of giving after all. This project would be perfect for donating to cancer wards, burn wards, and other places that require very soft yarn for sensitive skins. I urge you to look local for these places. I know last year I gave lots of suggestions at places you can ship your work to make a difference but with how the world is going I think coming together as a community should be a priority. Help give your local community a morale boost during this time, even get together with other crocheters be that over zoom, an open area outside with proper social distancing, or Facebook chats, and come together to help as much as you can with your crafts.

Let’s get hooking.

  1. I was looking for a hat pattern to crochet. My Ladies Guild is making hats for the homeless and impoverished in South Carolina. This hat is perfect for the yarn I have on hand.
    Thanks, Karen
