Puffs and Valleys Christmas Stocking Free Crochet Pattern

Hello Everyone!

We’re here at day 9 of the 10 days of giving pattern blowout which means tomorrow will be the final pattern! Today I’m bringing you another stocking pattern this one is my stocking this year the last one was my fiancĂ©es. This stocking is made using a 4 row repeat that makes a nice puffs and valleys pattern (hence the name!).

Supplies

5mm crochet hook.

1 100 gram ball in each color you’re using.

Darning needle.

Scissors.

Abbreviations

Ch- Chain

HDC- Half double crochet

DC- Double crochet

BLHDC- Back loop half double crochet

BLO- Back loop only

FPDC- Front post double crochet

BPDC- Back post double crochet

Slst- Slip stitch

Christmas Stocking Crochet Pattern

Row 1- Ch 3, work 10 DC in the third ch from hook.

Row 2- Ch 2, turn, work 2 DC in each stitch around. Join to beginning with slst. (20)

Row 3- Ch 2, turn, *DC in the next stitch, 2DC in the next stitch* Repeat * around. Join to beginning with slst. (30)

Row 4- Ch 2, turn, *Work 1 DC in the next 2 stitches, 2 DC in the next stitch.* Repeat around. Join to beginning with slst. (40)

Row 5- Ch 2, turn, *Work 1 DC in the next 3 stitches, 2 DC in the next stitch* Repeat * around. Join to beginning with slst. (50)

Tie off, join color 2.

Row 6- Ch 1, turn, HDC in each stitch around. Join to beginning with slst.

Row 7- Ch 1, turn, BLHDC in each stitch around. Join to beginning with slst.

Row 8- Ch 1, turn, HDC in each stitch around. Join to beginning with slst.

Row 9- Ch 2, turn, working in the BLO *DC in the next stitch, Puff stitch in the next stitch* Repeat * around. Join to beginning with slst.

Rows 10-21- Repeat rows 6-9

Tie off.

Heel

Join color 1

Row 1- Tie on at any point. Ch 1, HDC in the same stitch you tie onto and in the next 25 stitches. (26 HDC in total)

Rows 2-10- Ch 1, turn, HDC in each stitch across.

Row 11- Ch 1, turn, work 1 HDC in the first 7 stitches, work 6 HDC decreases. Work 1 HDC in the last 7 stitches.

Row 12- Ch 1, turn, work 1 HDC in the first 4 stitches, work 6 HDC decreases, work 1 HDC in the last 4 stitches

Row 13- Ch 1, turn, work 1 HDC in the first 3 stitches, work 4 HDC decreases, work 1 HDC in the last 3 stitches.

Fold heel in half and slst shut.

Tie off.

Top of stocking

Join color 2

Rows 22-40- Repeat rows 6-9

Tie off. Join color 1.

Row 41- Ch 2, DC into the BLO of the same stitch you joined into and in each stitch around. Join to beginning with slst.

Row 2-4 Ch 2, turn, alternate FPDC and BPDC in each stitch around. Join to beginning with slst.

Tie off.

Weave in ends.
