Pride Day Crochet Crop Top

Hello Everyone!

With it being right in the middle of pride month I couldn’t think of a better time to bring you all a pride themed crochet project. This top is a great beginner project for those just wanting to step into making crochet clothing. This top uses mostly half double crochet stitches, with double crochet stitches along the border.

This project was so much fun for me to design, I make my friend pride items every year during this time. I really hope all my crafty people out there will help their friends rock the rainbow during pride month (and yourselves too!)

This top is made to fit medium to extra large. If you want it smaller then start with less foundation stitches, and if you want it larger, add more foundation stitches across the top.

Ties

For the ties there’s 3 styles you can do and, in the photo, I have one of each kind of tie.

For the under-breast tie try the top on without it and see where the bottom of your breast is. Mark that spot and add your tie there.

For a braided tie- (Neckline) Measure 6 pieces of yarn (3 for each side) that is the length of your wingspan. Pull all 3 strings through your ch 2 space, double it over, and braid it to the end. (this is the tie I used for the neckline)

For the bottom tie and the under-breast tie- Measure your wingspan twice and cut 6 strings at that length. Pull all 3 strings through one side, double it over, and braid it to end.

For a chain tie (Neckline) Tie onto the top ch 2 space on either side of your neckline, and ch until you can comfortably tie it around your neck.

Under breast and bottom tie- Tie on your yarn and ch until it can tie comfortably around your body. (This is the tie I used for the bottom) For a size medium to large I chained 155.

For a double crochet tie- (neckline) Tie onto your ch 2 spaces, ch 2, and work 2 DC. Ch 2, turn, work 1 DC in each stitch. Repeat until its long enough to comfortably tie around your neck

Under breast and bottom tie- For the bottom tie, tie onto your ch 2 space, ch 2, work 2 DC. Ch 2, turn, work 1 DC in each of the DC stitches. Continue adding DC rows until it will tie comfortably around you.

Before we go…

As always I hope you all enjoyed today’s pattern. It uses a lot of simple stitches making it a great mindless project that you could do with any color combinations. The simple pattern also gives a great starting point to those who would prefer to use a thicker or thinner yarn. Just get the neckline to the correct length and follow the increase pattern.
