Checkered Pride Top Free Crochet Pattern

Hello Everyone!

It’s the beginning of PRIDE month and I am so excited to bring you this pattern. I absolutely love this top, it’s super easy to fit it to your individual body and could easily be modified to include the colors of any of the pride flags.

This pattern is also made with beginner friendly stitches and the body is done in half double crochet. All you need to know is how to carry a color and switch which I will be explaining below.

This post will contain affiliate links. This means if you make a purchase using some of my links I will receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. I only link to products I personally use and would purchase again.

This pattern will be available as a PDF on my Patreon by the end of the month!

Let’s get hooking.

Supplies

1 weight 2 50 gram ball of each of your pride colors. I used denim from iceyarns its a cotton acrylic blend great for summer.

For my size which is about a large to a 1X I used about 5 50 gram balls of black.

3.5mm crochet hook.

Darning needle for weaving in ends.

Scissors.

A fabric measuring tape for measuring yourself.

Abbreviations

Ch- Chain

HDC- Half double crochet

DC- Double crochet

For switching colors you will carry the not working color under your working color, once it comes times to switch you finish your last stitch with the next color.

Notes

This will be a recipe type pattern meant for adjusting it to your body type.

Gauge= 10 HDC stitches=2.5 inches. (10 stitches is the size of each square.)

I’ll include a size table below for those who may be making this for someone else.

This top laces shut in the back so do the lower amount of squares if you want a more open back and the higher amount of squares if you want a more closed back.
