Hello Everyone!
It’s Friday once again and we’re nearing the end of summer so I’m getting you some of the final summer patterns for the year. I learned a new, fun, and lacey stitch to bring a little extra to today. and This new stitch worked up great in one of my new yarns I got last month for my birthday! (the yarn is called alara from iceyarns!)
This top was a ton of fun to make and the openness of the stitch for the stomach band makes it so this top uses less than 150 grams of yarn even in my size! If you don’t know the arcade stitch I will explain it in the post and I will also link to the video I watched to learn for those who are more visual learners.
This post will contain affiliate links, this just means if you make a purchase through some of my links I will receive a small commission at no extra cost to you.

Ch 15
Row 1- Work 1 sc in the second ch from hook and in eac ch across until you reach the last ch stitch. Work 3 sc in the final stitch, place a stitch marker in the second stitch of your increase. Work 1 sc in the blo of each of your original ch stitches. (31)
Row 2-(15 x-small)(18 small)(21 medium)(24 large)(27 extra large)(30 2x)(33 3X) Ch 1, turn, work 1 sc in each stitch until you reach your stitch marker. Remove stitch marker, work 3 sc in the space your stitch marker was is. Place your stitch marker back into the second stitch of your increase. Work 1 sc in each remaining sc.
Do not remove stitch markers.
Tie off with a long tail, you will use this tail to sew your cups to your stomach band.
Stomach Band
The stomach band is made to fit you specifically so you’ll need to measure around your underbust or ribcage. You can do this with a soft tape measure, or use a piece of yarn, cut it length then measure that yarn with a tape measure.
Now work up a gauge swatch with whatever yarn you are using for me that was 4 stitches equals 1 inch.
For my top I wanted it to have a mostly open back so I cut my measurement down to 30 inches. You’ll want to measure to where you want your stomach band to end, multiply that number by 4 and find the nearest multiple of 6.
I know all that math sounds confusing but I used the number 30 for how wide I wanted my stomach band to be so I multiplied 30 by 4 to get 120. Luckily 120 is a multiple of 6 but say my number would have been 117 I would have bumped that up to 120 or down to 114.
So now that the math i out of the way let’s get started on the pattern.
To begin you will want to chain a multiple of 6+1 for me that was 121
The rest of this you will work up exactly the same no matter what your size is.
Here is the tutorial for the arcade stitch, below explains how to do it as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7P1fzOYTWk
Row 1- Sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across.
Row 2- Ch 1, sc in the first stitch. *Ch 3, skip next 3 stitches, work 1 sc into the next 3 stitches* Repeat * across. At the end of the row you will only have 2 stitches left work 1 sc into the last 2 stitches.
Row 3- Ch 1, skip the last 2 sc, work 5 DC into the first ch 3 space. *Sc into the second sc of your sc group. Skip the last sc of that group and work 5 DC into the next ch 3 space.* Repeat * across. At the end of the row when you finish your final DC cluster sc into the final stitch.
Row 4- Ch 3, skip first 2 stitches, work 1 sc into the next 3 DC stitches. *Ch 3, skip the next 3 stitches, work 1 sc into the next 3* (You should be working 1 sc into the middle 3 stitches of each 5 DC cluster) Repeat * across. At the end of the row ch 2, skip the last DC and sc into the turning chain.
Row 5- Ch 3, skip first stitch, work 2 DC in the ch 2 space. *Skip the next sc stitch sc in the next stitch, work 5 DC in the next ch 3 space.* Repeat * across. At the end of the row work 3 DC in the ch 3 space at the end of the row.
Row 6- Ch 1, skip first sc, sc into the second stitch. *Ch 3, skip the next 3 stitches and work 1 sc in the next 3 stitches.* Repeat * across. (You should be working your 3 sc in the middle 3 DC of the 5 DC clusters)At the end of the row work 1 sc in the last stitch and 1 sc in the turning chains.
Repeat rows 3-6 until your stomach portion is as long as you want it to be. I did mine a little longer than my usual crop tops since it has an open lacy stomach.
Tie off. Weave in ends.
Fold your stomach band in half and place a marker in the middle where the fold is. This is where you will sew your cups onto.
Using your long tail attach your cups to the stomach band. I used a whip stitch you can use whatever works for you.
Border
Tie onto the top corner of your stomach band. Ch 1, work 1 sc into each stitch until you reach your cup, skip the stitch your cup attaches to, work 1 sc in each stitch until you reach your stitch marker. Work 3 sc in the space your stitch marker ws in. Replace marker.
Work 1 sc until you have (5 x small)(6 small)(7 medium)(8 large)(9 extra large)(10 2X)(11 3X) Stitches remaining on the inside of your cup. Ch 3, count up as many stitches on the other side as you have left on your current side (that would be 9 stitches for the extra large) Sc into the next stitch. (that would be the tenth stitch for the extra large.)
Sc to the other side of your stomach band making sure to increase in the stitch marker space.
Row 1- Ch 1, turn, work 1 sc in each stitch to your marker, remove marker and work 3 sc in the same stitch. Replace marker. Work 1 sc until you reach your ch 3 space, work 5 sc into your ch 3 space. Sc across the rest of the row working 3 sc in your stitch marker space.
Tie off and weave in ends.
Ch 500 (or however long you need your tie to be) and use it to corset lace the back of your top. You’re ready to wear it now!
