Roseto Yarn Review

Hello everyone!

Today I have a yarn review of one of Ice Yarnsnew releases the Roseto Worsted which you can find here https://crochetwithkim.com/Roseto-Worsted. This yarn is a wool and acrylic blend and comes in a decent selection of colors.

I also published a surprise pattern earlier today using this yarn which you can find here https://crochetwithkim.com/worlds-easiest-crochet-messy-bun-hat/.

Enough of the introduction let’s go get into the nitty-gritty of this yarn!

The Basics

Let’s start with the basics of this yarn.

It has 30% wool, 70% acrylic fiber content.

It comes in packages of 4, and each ball is 100 grams and has about 218 yards per ball. On Ice Yarns you have to order them in a package, you can’t buy individual balls.

This yarn is 4 weight worsted and has a normal spin to it.

This yarn, like all of Ice Yarns, is made in Turkey.

Softness

You can definitely tell that this yarn has wool but it’s not scratchy. However, if you are someone who is not a fan of wool blends then this is probably not the yarn for you.

In my opinion, this yarn is definitely not one I would use for a baby, but I would make something for a child with it.

It’s a very puffy plush kind of soft, I would compare it to Red Heart “With Love” but a bit softer. It makes great winter items being soft, and the wool acrylic combination makes it extremely warm.

This yarn has a small amount of halo to it giving it a nice subtle fuzziness.

Workability

This yarn works up quickly and the self-striping pattern comes out beautifully. It doesn’t split while working with it and the halo is subtle so it doesn’t snag.

Frogging this yarn is a bit more difficult than other yarns but if you pull up while frogging it doesn’t snag too much. You can also safely give it a good tug if it does snag without worrying about ripping your yarn.

The color transitions are nice and long, perfect for making hats, scarves, fingerless gloves, etc. If you were to make a sweater or blanket I think the stripes wouldn’t go across a whole row, but anything smaller than that and you will get a nice gradient.

Price

The price is much cheaper than most other yarns but more expensive than most Ice Yarns. it runs $2.25 a ball not on sale and $8.99 for a lot.

Shipping on Ice Yarns is always high. It comes from Turkey and they give very cheap prices on their yarn. However, when adding items to your cart you’ll want to buy 4-6 packages, watch your shipping at a certain point it will have a significant jump. Once that jumps hits delete your last added item, and then divide the cost by the number of balls you’re buying. I always try to have my cost average per ball be less than $4. (It’s usually about $2.50 per ball even after the high shipping)

Color Options

This yarn currently has 12 available color options. They have some blues, pinks, black and white, and even some neon color blends.

I think it’s a decent selection of colors, and they have the “Roseto” line. Roseto is a weight 3 with the same fiber content and colorways. So if you want to match these colors with a thinner yarn you can which is something I really enjoy about this yarn. You can find the Roseto line here if you would like to take a look https://crochetwithkim.com/Roseto.

Final thoughts

I personally love this yarn, and I have bought several colors of it, and plan on ordering more in my next shipment. I have also ordered several colors of the Roseto which I plan on writing a review for in the future. It’s more of a roving styled yarn so if you’re thinking about ordering it keep that in mind.

I have several other patterns worked up with some different colors that will be coming onto my website soon so keep an eye out for those if you decide to order this yarn.

If you would like to see more patterns I have designed and keep up to date on blog news sign up for my newsletter. You can also follow my Facebook page where I post WIP photos and new patterns when they come out https://crochetwithkim.com/vb1e.

I hope this yarn review helps you make a more informed decision if you decide to order from Ice Yarns, and as always happy hooking everyone!
