Introduction
Hello everyone, today we will be working on one more crochet crop top before the summer is over. Like the last crochet crop top, this uses one of my favorite yarn, Natural Garden. This yarn is a cotton, bamboo, and linen blend of yarn that is so silky soft, and amazingly breathable making it the perfect yarn for creating crochet summer clothing. The buttons I used for this pattern I made with polymer clay, and a small Sculpey circle cutter. One thing that is a huge difference from my typical crochet crop tops is that this one does not have an open back, just a basic t-shirt with a cute pattern!
This pattern is worked in several different parts and needs to be seamed together at the end. The sections are very easy, making this a great pattern to work on for beginners to making crochet clothing, just make sure you know how to do a whip stitch and keep your seams even!

Ch- Chain

Hdc- Half double crochet
Hdc Dec- Half double crochet decrease.
Slst- Slip stitch
Crochet Crop Top Pattern
Front panels, (Make 2)
Row 1- Ch 2, work 46 foundation hdc (Including beg ch 2 stitches)
Rows 2-5- Ch 1, hdc in each stitch across. Tie off
Row 6- Attach color 2 (purple), ch 1, work 1 hdc in each stitch across
Rows 7-10- Ch 1, work 1 hdc in each stitch across.
Rows 11-50- Repeat rows 6-10 switching colors every 5 rows.
Row 51- With color 1 (white) ch 1, hdc in each stitch across.
Row 52- Ch 1, work 23 hdc, work 3 hdc dec after (you’ll be working stitch into the first 29 stitches.) Work 1 more hdc after your decreases. Turn,
Row 53- Ch 1, work 1 hdc in each stitch across.
Row 54- Ch 1, work 1 hdc, 1 hdc dec. Hdc until you have 5 stitches remaining. Work 2 dec at the end of row, 1 hdc in final stitch.
Row 55- Ch 1, hdc in each stitch across. Tie off.
Row 56- Connect color 2 (purple) Ch 1, work 1 hdc in first stitch, work 2 hdc dec. Work 1 hdc in each stitch across until you have 5 left. Work 2 more hdc dec, and 1 hdc in final stitch.
Row 57- Ch 1, hdc in each stitch across.
Row 58- Ch 1, work 1 hdc, work 3 hdc dec, 1 hdc in each stitch across until you have 5 remaining. Work 2 more hdc dec, 1 hdc in final stitch.
Row 59- Ch 1, work 1 hdc in each stitch across.
Row 60- Ch 1, work 1 hdc in first stitch, 2 hdc dec. 1 hdc until you have 5 stitches left, work 2 more hdc dec, and 1 hdc in final stitch. Tie off.
Row 61- Tie on color 1 (white) Ch 1, hdc in each stitch across.
Row 62- Ch 1, Work 1 hdc in first stitch, work 1 hdc dec. Work 1 hdc in each stitch across until you have 3 remaining, work 1 hdc dec, wrk 1 hdc in final stitch.
Row 63-65- Ch 1, work hdc in each stitch across. Tie off.
Row 66- Tie on color 2 (purple) Ch 1, hdc in each stitch across.
Row 67-70- Ch 1, work hdc in each stitch across. Tie off.
Row 71- Tie on color 1 (white), ch 1, work 1 hdc in each stitch across.
Row 72-75- Ch 1, work 1 hdc in each stitch across. Tie off.
Rows 76-90- Repeat rows 71-75, switching colors every 5 rows.

Back Panel
Row 1- With color 1 (white) Ch 2, work 86 foundation hdc including beg ch 2.
Rows 2-5- Ch 1, hdc in each stitch across. Tie off.
Row 6-10- Connect color 2 (purple) Ch 1, work 1 hdc in each stitch across.
Rows 11-50- Repeat rows 6-10 switching colors every 5 rows.
Rows 51- 53- With color 1 (white) Ch 1, work 1 hdc in each stitch across.
Row 54- Ch 1, work 1 hdc in the first stitch, work 1 hdc dec. Work 1 hdc in each remaining stitch until you have 3 left. Work 1 hdc dec, 1 hdc in final stitch.
Row 55- Ch 1, hdc in each stitch across. Tie off.
Row 56- With color 2 (purple) Ch 1, work 1 hdc in first stitch, 2 hdc dec. 1 hdc in each stitch across until you have 5 left. Work 2 more hdc dec, 1 hdc in final stitch.
Row 57- Ch 1, work 1 hdc in each stitch across.
Row 58- Ch 1, work 1 hdc in first stitch, work 3 hdc dec. Work 1 hdc in each stitch across until you have 7 stitches left. Work 3 more hdc dec, 1 hdc in final stitch.
Row 59- Ch 1, hdc in each stitch across.
Row 60- Ch 1, work 1 hdc in first stitch, 2 hdc dec. Work 1 hdc in each stitch across until you have 5 remaining. Work 2 more hdc dec, 1 hdc in final stitch. Tie off.
Row 61- With color 1 (white) Ch 1, work 1 hdc in each stitch across.
Row 62- Ch 1, work 1 hdc, 1 hdc dec. Work 1 hdc in each stitch across until you have 3 left. Work 1 hdc dec, 1 hdc in final stitch.
Rows 63-65- Ch 1, work 1 hdc in each stitch across. Tie off.
Rows 66-85- Ch 1, work 1 hdc in each stitch across. (Make sure to switch colors every 5 rows.)
Row 86- With color 1 (white) Ch 1, work 1 hdc in each stitch across.
Row 87- Ch 1, work 1 hdc in the first 13 stitches.
Row 88- Ch 1, work 1 hdc 3 hdc dec, 1 hdc in each remaining stitch across.
Row 89- Ch 1, work 1 hdc in each stitch across.
Row 90- Ch 1, work 1 hdc in each stitch across.
Tie off
Seam
To make the sea line we’re going to tie onto the bottom corner of any one of the panels (This will be done on the outside of each front panel, and both sides of the back panels.)
Work 1 hdc in the side of each row, you can switch colors every 5 rows to keep it even with the color changes but this is entirely optional. Tie off.
Tie back onto the bottom beginning of the hdc row you just did, and work 1 DC in each stitch. Tie off. Seam these pieces together lining your stitches up evenly and using a whip stitch. Mark where you started working your decrease stitches on both sides, and don’t stitch that area closed, this is where you will work your sleeves.
Sleeves (work on both sides)
Connect to the bottom of one of the sleeves with color 2 (purple)
Row 1- Work 1 hdc in the side of each hdc row around your arm hole. Join to beg stitch with slst.
Rows 2-5- Ch 1, work 1 hdc in each stitch around. Join to beg of row with a slst. Tie off.
Row 6- Connect color 1 (white) in the stitch you just tied off in. Ch 1, work 1 hdc in each stitch around, join to beg with slst.
Rows 7-10- Ch 1, hdc in each stitch around, join to beg with slst. Tie off.
Rows 11-15- Repeat rows 6-10. Tie off.
Row 16- With color 1 (white) work 11 hdc in each stitch around, connect to beg with slst.
Row 17- Ch 2, work 1 DC in each stitch around, connect to beg with slst. Tie off.
Neckline
Connect into the top of the neckline where you’re going to work your buttonholes. You will be working on the top of the stitches when you originally tie on.
Row 1- Ch 1, work 1 hdc in the stitch you just tied into. Work 1 hdc in each stitch, once you reach the sides of rows then work 1 hdc into the side of each row, continue to the opposite side of the neckline.
Row 2- Ch 2, work 1 DC in each stitch across. Tie off.
Button Holes
With color 1 (white) tie onto the side of the front panel that isn’t seamed to the back panel.
Row 1- Ch 1, work 1 hdc in the same stitch you joined into (you will be tying on and working the stitch in the side of a row). Work 1 hdc in the side of each remaining hdc row and 2 hdc in the side of each DC row going up to the top.
Row 2- Ch 1, work 1 hdc in the first stitch *ch 2, skip the next 2 stitches, work 1 hdc in the next 3 stitches* Repeat * to end of row.
Row 3- Ch 1, work 1 hdc in in the first stitch, *work 1 hdc in each hdc stitch, work 2 hdc in each ch space* Repeat to end of row. Tie off.
For the other side work row 1 the same, but instead of skipping stitches in row 2 just work 3 rows of hdc. Attach your buttons on this side (tie your button onto every fifth row)
Hem
Row 1- Tie onto the bottom row of your shirt with color 2 (purple) ch 1, and work 1 hdc in each stitch around including the stitch you tied into.
Row 2- Ch 2, work 1 DC in each stitch around. Tie off.
Finishing up
Weave in all of your ends and try on your new handmade crochet crop top! This shirt can be made in any color combination, and you can add on more unique buttons to really make yours stand out!
Conclusion

This top was a lot of fun for me to make and is great for people just getting into clothing making, along with being a nice fun piece for more experienced crocheters as well!
