Unisex Beginners Slouch Free Crochet Pattern

Hello Everyone!

Today is day 4 of the 12 days of Christmas, we’re already a third of the way through the event! Today I’m bringing you another slouchy beanie to follow up on yesterday’s sprout slouch. This slouch is made with a weight 6 super bulky yarn, making it a project that works up SUPER fast. This slouchy beanie can easily be made in an evening.

This hat goes wonderfully with the theme of this crochet pattern blowout, which is can be made in a day or less to make last minute holiday presents. This slouchy beanie is also perfect for those who live in areas with harsh winters, the super bulky yarn makes a super warm crochet hat.

Supplies

2 100 gram balls of weight 6 yarn. I used Yarn Bee HUE IQ yarn.

9mm crochet hook. I used Furls streamline swirls in the color Aries.

Scissors. I like the clover yarn cutter.

Darning needle.

Abbreviations

Ch- Chain

Sc- Single crochet

HDC- Half double crochet

BLO- Back loop only

DC- Double crochet

Slst- Slip stitch

Notes

Gauge- 2 sc=1 inch 2 sc rows=1 inch

The side that shows the ribbed texture from the half double crochet is the right side.

Slouchy Beanie Pattern

Ch 5

Row 1- Work 1 sc in second ch from hook, and in ech ch across.

Rows 2-40- Ch 1, turn, sc in each stitch across.

Tie off. Whip stitch the first and last row together.

Tie on next to seam.

Row 1- (Working in the side of each sc row) Ch 1, HDC in each stitch around. Join to beginning with slst. (40)

Row 2- Ch 2, turn, (working in BLO) DC in each stitch around. Join to beginning with slst. (40)

Row 3- Ch 1, turn, HDC in each stitch around. Join to beginning with slst. (40)

Row 4-8- Repeat rows 2-3

Row 9- Ch 1, turn, *HDC in the next 8 stitches, work 1 HDC decrease* Repeat * around. Join to beginning with slst. (36)

Row 10- Ch 2, turn, (working in BLO) *DC in the next 7 stitches, work 1 DC decrease* Repeat * around. Join to beginning with slst. (32)

Row 11- Ch 1, turn, *HDC in the next 6 stitches, HDC decrease* Repeat * around. Join to beginning with slst. (28)

Row 12- Ch 1, turn *HDC in the next 5 stitches, HDC decrease* Repeat * around. Join to beginning with slst. (24)

Row 13- Ch 1, turn, *HDC in the next 4 stitches, HDC decrease* Repeat * around. Join to beginning with slst. (20)

Row 14- Ch 1, turn, *HDC in the next 3 stitches, HDC decrease* Repeat * around. Join to beginning with slst. (16)

Tie off

Cinch top shut. Weave in ends.
