Hello Everyone!

Today is day 3 of the 12 days of Christmas pattern blowout and today I’m bringing you a slouchy beanie that uses a combination of beginner friendly stitches to create a texture that works up beautifully with self striping yarns. The seed stitch used in this pattern makes it so when the colors switch in the middle of your rows it doesn’t look as abrupt as it may with other stitches.

This hat was made for a good friend of mine before I moved into my new house and it worked up nice and quickly. I love making slouchy beanies, and you can control how much slouch this hat has by working more or less rows.

Let’s get hooking!

Supplies

1 100 gram ball of weight 4 yarn. I used red heart striped jumbo for mine, but you could definitely use one of the normal sized super saver yarns.

5.5mm crochet hook. I used Furls streamline swirls in the color Virgo. You can see that there on Amazon.

Scissors. I like the clover yarn cutter, you can find it there on Amazon.

Fur pompom. You can find the ones I used on Amazon, it comes with a good variety of colors.

Button. I like these buttons, it comes with a lot of them, and a nice pair of crafting scissors.

Darning needle.

Abbreviations

Ch- Chain

DC- Double crochet

FPDC- Front post double crochet

BPDC- Back post double crochet

Sc- Single crochet

Sc3tog- Single crochet 3 together

Slst- Slip stitch

Notes

Gauge- 7 stitches= 2 inches

Either side of this hat can be the right side.

I attach the pompom with a button on the inside of the hat. If you use the same pompoms I did they have an elastic loop to attach.

For cinching the top shut double up your yarn and weave through every other stitch instead of every stitch.
