Icicle Drop Stitch Tote Bag Free Crochet Pattern

Hello Everyone!

Today is the second day of the 12 days of Christmas crochet pattern blowout and I’m bringing you another pattern from my icicle drop stitch collection. I really enjoyed designing today’s pattern it was a lot of fun I absolutely love working this stitch pattern and I love how festive it comes out in this color pallet.

Supplies

5.5mm crochet hook.

1 100 gram ball of your secondary color for me that was white.

2 100 gram balls of your primary color for me that was red. You will not use all of both skeins. I used red heart super saver sparkle.

Stitch markers.

Scissors.

Darning needle.

Abbreviations

Ch- Chain

Sc- Single crochet

DC- Double crochet

Slst- Slip stitch

BLO- Back loop only

Special stitch.

Crab stitch- This is used for the border and its essentially just working a single crochet stitch backwards. I have a small example video of how it is done on my TikTok @crochetwithkim.

Ch 41

Row 1- Sc in the second ch from hook and in each ch across. Work 3 sc in the final stitch. Turn your work and work 1 sc in the BLO of each ch stitch going down. Work 2 sc in the last ch stitch. Join to beginning with slst.

Row 2- Ch 1, turn, sc in the first stitch, 3 sc in the second stitch, place a stitch marker in the second stitch of your increase.

Sc in the next 38 stitches, work 3 sc in the next stitch, place a marker in the second stitch of your increase.

Sc in the next stitch, work 3 sc in the next stitch. Place a marker in the second stitch of increase.

Sc in each remaining stitch until you reach the last stitch. Work 3 sc in the final stitch. Place a marker in second stitch of increase.

Row 3- Ch 1, turn, sc in the first stitch, Remove marker and work 3 sc in the stitch your marker was in. Place marker back in second stitch of increase.

Work 1 sc in each remaining stitch around. When you reach the stitches your markers are in work 3 sc in the space your marker was in and place the stitch marker in the second stitch of your new increase.

Join to beginning with slst.

Row 4- Ch 1, turn, sc in each stitch around. When you reach your markers remove the marker, work your sc, and place the marker into your new row in the same spot. Join to beginning with slst.

Row 5- Ch 1, turn, sc around. When you reach each stitch marker work 3 sc in the spade your marker was in. Place your stitch marker back in the second stitch of your increase. Join to beginning with slst.

Row 6-14- Repeat rows 4-5.

Row 15- Ch 1, do not turn, sc in the first stitch, *Ch 1, skip the next stitch, sc in the next stitch. Join to beginning with slst. Finish your slst with your secondary color.

Row 16- Using new color (white) Ch 1, do not turn *sc in the next stitch, DC in the sc stitch that’s under your ch space.* Repeat * around. Join to beginning with slst.

Row 17- Ch 1, do not turn, sc in the first stitch *ch 1, skip the next stitch, sc in the next stitch* Repeat * around. Join to beginning with slst. Finish your slst with your previous color.

Row 18- Ch 1, do not turn, *sc in the next stitch, DC in the next ch space of your previous row.* Repeat * around. Join to beginning with slst.

Rows 19-61- Repeat rows 17-18

Row 62- Ch 1, do not turn, sc in each stitch around. Join to beginning with slst.

Row 63- Ch 1, turn, sc in the first 15 stitches, ch 41, skip 41 stitches, sc into the 42nd stitch. Work 1 sc in the next 37 stitches, ch 41, skip 41 stitches, sc into the 42nd stitch. Work 1 sc in each remaining stitch. Join to beginning with slst.

Rows 64-68- Ch 1, turn, sc in each stitch around. Join to beginning with slst.

Row 69- Ch 1, crab stitch around. Join to beginning with slst.

Tie off, weave in ends.
