Hello everyone!
I cant believe its already day 5 of my 10 days of giving crochet pattern blowout, time is really flying by this week. Today I have a bulky, textured crochet hat that uses the alpine stitch. As I’m sure many of you know if you follow me on anything is I absolutely LOVE the alpine stitch, the texture is beautiful, and its a great stitch for using solid colored yarns. Using the alpine stitch with a bulky yarn just made me fall even more in love with it. The bulky really shows the stitch off and I absolutely love it.
With this being the 10 days of giving i felt this pattern really fit in nice with the theme since it works up so quickly and for those who prefer working more unique patterns and get bored with different designs this is a great project for you. It uses about a ball of the main color (100 grams) and very little of the accent color. This would be a great project to donate to women’s shelters, schools, hospitals, and any other local area that needs warmth items. I really suggest looking local for places to donate your items this year. With the way the world is going I feel our local communities could really use the morale boost.

Supplies
2 balls of weight 5 yarn. About 100 yards from the main color, and about 40 yards of the second color.
7mm crochet hook
Darning needle
Scissors
Abbreviations
Ch- Chain
Sc- Single crochet
HDC- Half double crochet
BLHDC- Back loop half double crochet
DC- Double crochet
FPDC- Front post double crochet
BLDC- Back loop double crochet
Slst- Slip stitch
Special stitch
Alpine stitch- Instructions will be explained in the pattern.
Notes
Gauge- 3 DC rows= 2 inches. 3 DC=1 inch
Extended gauge- 6 DC rows=4 inches 12 DC=4 inches
The side that shows the texture of the alpine stitch will be the right side.
The chains at the start of the row will never count as a stitch. You will always join to the first stitch of the previous row, not the chain.

Row 1- Ch 3, Work 10 DC in the third ch from hook. Join to beginning with slst.
Row 2- Ch 2, turn, work 2 DC in each stitch around. Join to beginning with slst. (20)
Row 3- Ch 2 turn, work 1 DC in the first stitch *2 DC in the next stitch, 1 DC in the next stitch. * Repeat * around. Join to beginning with slst. (30)
Row 4- Ch 2, turn, work 1 DC in the first 2 stitches. *2 DC in the next stitch, 1 DC in the next 2 stitches * Repeat around. Join to beginning with slst. (40)
Row 5- Ch 2, turn, work 1 DC in the first 3 stitches *2 DC in the next stitch, 1 DC in the next 3 stitches. * Repeat * around. Join to beginning with slst. (50)
Row 6- Ch 1, turn, sc in each stitch around. Join to beginning with slst.
Row 7- Ch 2, turn, DC in the first stitch *FPDC in the next DC of the previous row. DC in the next stitch * Repeat * around. Join to beginning with slst.
Row 8- Ch 1, turn, sc in each stitch around. Join to beginning with slst.
Row 9- Repeat row 7.
Tie off
Connect color 2
Row 10- Ch 1, turn, HDC in each stitch around. Join to beginning with slst.
Row 11- Ch 1, turn, BLHDC in each stitch around. Join to beginning with slst.
Tie off.
Connect color 1
Row 12- Ch 2, DO NOT TURN. BLDC in each stitch around. Join to beginning with slst.
Row 13- Ch 1, turn, sc in each stitch around. Join to beginning with slst.
Row 14- Repeat row 7
Row 15- Ch 1, sc in each stitch around. Join to beginning with slst.
Row 16- Repeat row 7
Tie off.
Join color 2
Band
Ch 4
Row 1- Sc in second ch from hook and in each ch down. Connect to the next 2 stitches of row 16 with a slst.
Row 2- Turn, sc in each sc of your band.
Row 3- Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc stitch. Connect to the next 2 stitches of row 16 with slst.
Rows 4-50- Repeat rows 2-3. Final row you work you will work only 1 slst into row 16 instead of 2.
Tie off
Join to the first row of your band with whip stitch.
Weave in ends.
